weekend

So many things have happened in the past few days. It feels like I've been here for a lot more than just a week, but than again, it doesn't. I wish I could write about all the things happening. But I simply don't have the time. It's been a great time. I'm sorry that I don't write much, at least not as much as I'd like to, but I'm always busy and when I have some time, I am too tired.

We spent our saturday and sunday at my swedish grandmother's appartment. We drove for 2 and a half hours which actually is not a long time, but it felt so long. I read a book the whole time. We had a stop at the biggest Darlana häst (horse) statue in the world. We took some photos. Everyone was so tired after the drive, so we had lunch and then we rested for a while. The grandmother is very nice. Fortunately she's lived in Africa for many years, so her english is very good. We made a trip to a place where the water is one of the best in Sweden.
It is a stream, but a stream of ground water. The water is coming to the surface in little bubbles. We had to watch out for them. Because were the bubbles are, the ground is just an illusio

n and the water is actually a lot deeper. If you step in it, that's pretty bad. Because the water has about 6 degrees. You can't be in it for more than a minute because  the cold really hurts. But the water is crystal clear. You can just stand in the stream and drink it. And if you fill it in a bottle, the bottle fogs because of the cold.. I just wrote a whole paragraph about water, but it's just amazing.
We just walked around in the forest, picked some raspberrys and ate them. My hostbrothers saw a snake, but I didn't. The mosquitos drove me/us insane. We kept walking but we went home after a while. I was exhausted and not feeling good that time. I'm always tired anyway. Learning a new language, not speaking my native language, every place, every person is new. A lot of impressions. But this was different and I was afraid that I might had a cold. But I startet to feel better slowly. We had dinner and we ate cake later, because it's grandmothers birthday tomorrow. We watched the athletic championchips and went to bed.
The next morning we had breakfast and relaxed until noon. Then we drove to a big lake with many islands in it. A relative of my hostmother has a motorboat and a vacation house there. We drove there and spent the whole day swimming, relaxing, eating, picking berries. What a beautiful place! I really want to have a vacation house on an swedish island when I'm an adult too.

And I will go to sleep now, because I feel really tired and I have to get up early tomorrow. It is my first day of school. The day on the island has eased my mind so I'm not nervous.

Arrival Camp

12th August:

When I heard someone talking swedish on the airplane for the first time, I was so excited about it. Now it already sounds familar to me. We talk english in the camp, but the leaders talk to each others in swedosh.  The flight was not so special.
I really like the camp. Every YFU exchange sudent who spends this year in Sweden is here. They come from 24 countrys all over the world. I use nearly every language I speak. French, spanish, even th only 2 hungarian words I know, swedish, english and german of course
I share my room with 3 other girls. They come from Switzerland (but she doesn't speak german, she speaks french), Latvia and Thailand. The room is so small and our luggage is so big. That's a little problem. There are about 15 students from Germany here, We played some games together, to get to know each others better. Then some of us (I did) went swimming in the lake. It was so cold, but I enjoyed it anyway. It was evening and the sky was pink. The trees and the setting sun reflected on the water. Sweden is beautiful.
After swimming I went to my room and talked to my roommates. The latvian girl told us that it is "the night of the falling stars" and you can see a lot of them. We went outside, but sadly it was cloudy and we couldn't see a single falling star. After 10pm we had to go inside the house. We went to "the social room" and talked to other exchange students. It was really interesting to hear them talking about their countrys and it was very funny.
It's 1 am in the night and I'm really tired. I'm going to sleep now.

13th August

The girl from Latvia will probably go to the same school as I do. So happy to hear that.
Everyone's english is so good. I didn't expect that.
Everyone is so nice to each other.
Every photo I take looks like a photo for a postcard. I don't want to leave this place. I've been hear for a little more than 24 hours now and I already love Sweden so much! In this time I already....

Sweden is such a great place to be. You can drink water from the tap. We do this in Germany too, but the taste is not so good and I don't like it. But swedish water tastes like the water we buy in stores. It is so good, that I feel a little bad for wasting it when I take showers. The air is really good too. It doesn't stink when your on the country side. It's just fresh air.
Speaking more than one language is so confusing. I already forgot many german words and I stopped trying to translate every english words into german when talking to the Germans. It takes too much time anyway.

First day in Vattholma.

16th august:
I'm so happy right now and I can't imagine feeling homesick when I am in Sweden.  But I probably will. Not in summer, because swedish summer's are the best. Homesickness doesn't hit you when your happy. Everythings so beautiful here. Nature, people. I really don't want to go home. I didn't expected Sweden like this. I guess I just had no expectations. And now I'm surprised and even though I don't like cold weather, I think I chose the right country.

I can't speak swedish. Eveyone talks to me in english. But I already learned some new words.  I can say what the time is. But it takes me a long time. My hostfamily tries to add new swedish words when they talk to me. And they gave me a lot of swedish children's books. Because the swedish is very simple in children's books. So it's easy to understand and improve my swedish. Everyone is so nice to me and they really trying to getting me involved. My hostfather is a gymnastic- and parkourtrainer. And tomorrow (monday) I will already start the training. We had a long conversation about parkour and the gym yesterday and he showed me some pictures and videos. I'm really looking forward to go there. On tuesday my hostmother and me will visit my school and I will talk to the headmaster
I have a lot of questions. I need to write them out on paper so I don't forget any of them. That would be bad. I'm already afraid of my first day in school. I won't find a single classroom. Everyone knows my sense of direction is the worst. I can't even find my classrooms in my german school. I have gone to this school for 6 years now and it is not too big... But Lundellska skålan is probably a lot bigger. Anyway, asking where my classroom is is a great opportunity to talk to people. (just trying to be positive) Everyone is tired of speaking english. Literally tired. I go to bed early.
Today we're going to Uppsala. I will buy a SIM card and some stuff for my room at IKEA.
My school starts next monday (8/24). So I have some time left for learning swedish, enjoying the summer and spending time with my hostfamily.

Abschiedsparty
